Shipping policy

WHY HATS SHIPPING POLICY

Order Processing

Orders are processed the next business day after they are placed, provided materials are in stock.

For custom orders or orders with approved sketches, the lead time begins after customer confirmation.

Manufacturing and Shipping

All items are made to order.

Estimated manufacturing lead time: 4–8 weeks.

Shipping occurs upon completion of production.

International Shipping

Primary Courier: DHL Express (door-to-door).

Estimated delivery: 5–6 business days from Spain, once shipped.

Default Incoterm: DAP (Delivered At Place). The "shipping included" price covers transport to the indicated address. It does not include duties, taxes, fees, or courier handling/advance charges at the destination. These amounts, if applicable, are the responsibility of the recipient.

Important Notice for the United States

Due to recent changes in U.S. customs control and collection procedures, most shipments are now subject to duties and taxes, even if they were previously exempt. Authorities or the courier may hold the package until the recipient pays the applicable fees.

Why Hats does not set or control these fees. Their calculation and collection depend on the regulations in force at the destination and the customs valuation.

Domestic Shipments (Spain)

Carrier: Servientrega or equivalent.

Estimated delivery: 2–3 business days from shipment.

Tracking and Delivery

We will send a tracking number when your order ships.

Some shipments may require a signature upon delivery.

If no one is available to receive the package, the carrier may make a second delivery attempt or deliver it to a pickup point.

Customs, Taxes, and Documentation

Customs procedures (tariffs, taxes, fees, handling charges/courier advance) are the customer's responsibility under the Incoterm DAP.

Why Hats issues the commercial invoice and standard documentation. We cannot modify declared values or expedite inspections.

In some destinations, the courier may offer prepayment of duties and taxes to expedite delivery; its availability depends solely on the courier and the country.

Addresses and Restrictions

The customer must ensure that the address is complete and correct (street, number, apartment, postal code, country, and telephone number).

If an incomplete or incorrect address is provided that requires reshipment or return, the associated costs will be borne by the customer.

We do not ship to P.O. boxes with express services.

Some countries or regions may require additional information or have specific restrictions.

Possible Delays (Not attributable to Why Hats)

Adverse weather conditions, peak operational times, carrier logistics issues, customs processes (detentions or inspections), or the recipient's absence may extend the estimated delivery times.

Delivery Issues and Customs Returns

If the customer refuses or fails to pay the required customs/handling charges, the package may:

a) Be returned to the sender with return shipping costs and fees, which will be deducted from any applicable refund, or

b) Be abandoned by the authorities, without the right to a refund.

Personalized products: by their nature, they are non-refundable (except in the case of a verified manufacturing defect).

Shipping costs (outbound and, where applicable, return) are non-refundable when the delivery attempt has been made according to the contracted service.

Insurance and Damage in Transit

All shipments travel with the courier's standard insurance coverage.

If you notice any external damage upon delivery, please note it on the delivery slip and document it with photographs on the same day. Notify Why Hats within 48 hours so we can process the issue.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect operational or regulatory changes. The current version is the one published in this section.

APPENDIX: EXPRESS FAQ

“The price says ‘shipping included,’ why is the courier charging me?” → Because the included shipping covers transportation. Customs/taxes at the destination depend on the local authority and are the responsibility of the recipient (DAP regime).

“Does this happen in all countries?” → Outside the EU, it can happen. In the United States, it is currently common for charges to apply.

“Can I prepay the fees so it arrives faster?” → In some destinations the courier offers prepayment of duties/taxes; its availability depends on the country and the courier itself.
